It’s not you. It’s them. You see, you’re an empath and you were with more than a psychic vampire – you were with a narcissist.<\/p>\n

You need healing right now, and one of the first steps to that healing is understanding why empaths attract narcissists. Ok, wait. Let’s back up a step. Have you realized that you were involved with a narcissist?<\/p>\n

That’s really the first step, and it’s ok that you were.\u00a0 That’s what the narcissist wanted. All a narcissistic personality ever wants is what most empaths have – love, compassion, and understanding. It’s just that they don’t have any of that going for themselves, so they take it from wonderful people like you.<\/p>\n

They empty you out until you are drained, broken, depressed, and physically burnt out. Don’t be afraid to acknowledge that you were with a narcissist. You may not have realized it while they were sweeping you off your feet. That is how narcissists get empaths hooked.<\/p>\n

You were so loving and sweet – and they saw it coming. They got out their hooks, turned on the charm, and dug right in. You can mourn the loss of the person you thought you were in love with, but do not beat yourself up about this.<\/p>\n

Why empaths attract narcissists is best explained by imagining the proverbial moth to a flame. The attraction is there. You have love to give and give. They have nothing to give. They consume that love like a flame consumes a moth. They need everything you have emotionally, spiritually, and physically.<\/p>\n

That’s a simple way to explain why this happens. It’s usually more complicated because each person enters a relationship of any kind, whether romantic or professional with their own history, experiences, and upbringings. Empaths are more susceptible than others are to narcissistic relationships.<\/p>\n

There is an old saying that you cannot see the forest from the trees. That means you cannot see a problem with perspective because you are in the thick of it. When you are in a narcissistic and empathic dynamic you cannot see that you are being taken advantage of. You think that you are loving when you forgive them for cheating and take them back. You think you are being compassionate when you pay all their bills after they have lost yet another job.<\/p>\n

Narcissists are all about themselves and nobody else. It doesn’t matter how much you love them, they won’t and can’t change. Narcissism develops early. Some professionals believe it starts as young as two years of age. This is why these individuals act so childish and needy. They do not have the capacity to develop emotionally or spiritually. Sadly, therapy rarely helps because they think they are perfect and everyone else is the problem.<\/p>\n

Don’t stop being empathic. You will heal and soon find the right person to be empathic right back to you.<\/p>\n
