By Melanie: What exactly is an “Energy Vampire”? An energy vampire is someone who sucks your energy for different reasons. Most of this is an unconscious activity that neither being is aware of on a conscious level. There are different kinds; there are types of people who pull your energy intentionally, and types of people who do it unintentionally. The cause and motivation behind these occurrences are extremely different from one another, but still have a similar effect on a soul.

I have come across numerous amounts of both types of individuals in my life. The approach to protection is very similar. The real key is to recognize the need for protection, not necessarily the motivation behind the situation.

The first kind of people are tragic individuals; the unintentional energy drainers. Typically, these people are just sad, lonely, depressed or otherwise vibrating at a lower level of energy. They do not mean any harm and are having a hard time with life themselves. These people tend to be more attracted to higher vibrational individuals, a lot of psychics and spiritual individuals are of a higher vibration due to our spiritual awareness of the energy we put out. Ever notice someone who is sad or anxious tend to be more attracted to you, pulled even? And when you spend time with this person, even if you like them, you feel exhausted or drained after. This is a perfect example of energy-sucking. The person who is feeling down is looking for something to lift them up, to feel better, outside of them instead of internally. The person is not a bad person, but someone who is just lost and needs assistance. Should we completely stop talking to lower vibrational beings who are feeling down? Absolutely not! But there are ways to protect ourselves from the draining of power.

The second kind of people are more challenging. These people are the type that are intentionally difficult, negative, and angry and mean. They are draining to be around because they are unhappy low vibrational beings who DO in fact intend harm. The co-worker who wants to see you fail or lose your job, the ex-lover of a past relationship, the family member who just seems to have something against you, and on it goes. These people are generally miserable, jealous, unhappy people who do not know how to pull themselves out of a negative vibration. They are hurtful and do not take responsibility for their injuries towards others. I personally have dealt with many unfortunate individuals of this negative nature, even recently. How hard is it to block them and deal with it? It can be very difficult even for someone who is spiritually aware, especially with this specific type of person. We must be vigilant not to feed into their behavior. Not to give them what they want, do not meet negative with negative, do not allow them to change your behavior because of their own. That is exactly what they want, whether they admit it or not. This person is toxic. My best recommendation is to do your energy work as frequently as possible meaning, protect yourself.

Unfortunately, we all must learn how to live with individuals such as these if we choose to be functioning members of society. So we can’t hide, we can’t run away, how do we live? Again, we have to deal with these people where we go in life unless we plan on running away to an isolated island away from all human beings. You must protect your own energy to function, keep an eye out for my “energy protection” article coming soon. Reach out for a reading in the meantime, I’d love to help.
